A Stairway To Danger (A Shakertown Adventure) - Ben Woodard Rating: 3.5/5 StarsMy opinion: I tried to read this book from the perspective of the target audience (12-15 year old males), but unlike other juvenile/YA books, found myself having difficulties in accomplishing this and reverted to reading it as a parent. Although I found the story interesting and different from most of the literature targeted toward our youth today, I must admit that I did have issues with incidents of swear words the author chose to utilize that were not necessary to the storyline or setting. I also had a bit of an issue with the "abruptness"/conciseness of the writing. I think I would have liked to have seen it be a bit more inviting. I also agree with another reviewer that this book should not be compared to Huck Finn. The writing styles are totally different.Source: Author for review Would I recommend? : Maybe, depending on the parents' allowance of swear words as part of literature. As for the story itself, I think it is a wonderful and different type of story that is filled with adventure. Stand Alone or Part of a Series: Will be part of series
